Book Binding
The result of my first book binding trial using materials that I have in my home. Front and back covers are one piece made with thick watercolour paper and gouache paint. I was able to incorporate my illustration skills and techniques. The pages between are A4 papers individually hand cut to fit the style of the covers. I would like to try this again with a similar concept.
Fibre Field Lab, (Wet Felting)
Learning how to wet felt with both local Groningse and merino wool was especially rewarding when I got to see the result of the seat mat for our final assignments. We had such a wonderful opportunity to experience how to make different wool textures, mix different wools to create new colour combinations as well as the overall dying process.
Clay Photo frame
Since I have a big nature theme in a lot of my works, I continued to ‘honour’ this motive by making a woodland themed photo frame. It is made out of air dry clay, painted with acrylic paint and coated with acrylic varnish. The photo frame started off as a light wooden piece though now it is a lot bulkier and a tad heavier it seems to stand on its own just fine. Deciding to use minimal colour scheme also helped simplify the work and focus mainly on the nature idea.
